The mission of the Hendley Foundation 501c3 is to positively impact the lives of all children through higher education by giving scholarships and providing any resources needed to be successful. The goal is to be Purposeful in our approach in educating young people, Intentional and Impactful in our guidance to help others navigate through life, and be actively Engaged while holding on to the principles of accountability to all we encounter to be an agent of change for the next generation.
In the words of our Founders, "your beliefs don't make you a better person; your behavior does"...The Hendley Foundation was established to actively engage to give back to children to make all of our communities successful. To fulfill this purpose, the Foundation endeavors to make a meaningful difference in society through our mentorship and scholarship programs.

Our founders Timothy and Wanda unique prospective can be found in Isaiah 43:2 "when you pass through the waters, I will be there with you." As the world constantly change our team has made the commitment to walk through the waters and storms of life so they will not overwhelm you.

On the surface, Wanda Hendley may just seem to be just another Educator of 23 years whose life's work consist of checking attendance, grading paper and open houses. However, Wanda the only daughter born to Helen & William Cloud Sr. has been an ambassador and a champion of education. Since grade school, Wanda has dedicated her life to empowering children through education. At an early age, it was clear to see that education was not just a career she sought, but a burning passion to ignite the love of education in others. This was even more apparent, while as a senior in high school; Wanda was selected to participate in the magnet program, where she spent part of her day as student teacher. The dedicated Mrs. Hendley has been an Educator for the Federal Government for 23 years, teaching hundreds of military children from around the world. Wanda has been lauded by her peers by being nominated for Teacher of the Year countless times, chairing several developmental and educational committees for DODEA, as well as having the responsibility of indoctrinating teachers into the 21st century teaching and learning. Wanda was also chosen to participate and become a key developer for STEM education at Georgia Tech University. Wanda is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She received her primary learning from Atlanta Public School where she graduated from now defunct Fulton High. From there, she attended undergraduate school at Claflin University of Orangeburg S.C on a Presidential Scholarship. During that time in 1996, Mrs.Hendley (formerly Ms. Cloud) was initiated into the Gamma Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, and in 1998 was selected Miss Delta for the University.. After graduating Clafin Magna Cum Laude, Mrs. Hendley immediately turned her sights to further her education by attending graduate school at Troy State University where she again graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters Degree of Science in Foundations of Education. Wanda has also competed her Doctoral Studies at Argosy University in Organizational Leadership in 2010 . Wanda is the youngest of three brothers Tyrone, Billy, and Jason, all who reside in Atlanta Georgia. Wanda is married to her childhood sweetheart the Pastor Rev. Dr. Timothy Hendley together they are Lead Pastors at Tree of Life in Fredericksburg, VA together they have 6 children Dakwan, Kenyon, Jadon, Sahmaria, Tylah and Sophia.
Dakwan (TJ) Hendley is the President of The Hendley Foundation. He is the gifted visionary who has assumed the challenge to not only be the HBCU liaison, but also be the catalyst to launch black youth to extraordinary heights and open doors that could not otherwise be envisioned. TJ has the unique ability to galvanize, lead and cultivate relationships. Dakwan is currently enrolled at Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte N.C where as a junior he is Majoring in Psychology with a Minor in Sports Management. Dakwan is a member of JCSU track and football team, and a member of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, where he serves as the Chapter Representative.
Kenyon Ford Hendley is the The Vice President of Operations. His daily roles are planning, coordinating, and overseeing operational activities for The Foundation. Kenyon is currently a senior attending Norfolk State University who is currently majoring in Psychology.
Jadon Ford-Hendley is the Vice President of Outreach and Strategic Planning. Uniquely qualified, Jadon has been acknowledged for his selfless community service and generous heart by Omega U. Jadon is a graduate of Potomac High and is currently enrolled at Norfolk State University.
Sydney Atwood brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Hendley Foundation with her work, dedication and involvement to countless organization such as her sorority Delta Sigma Theta Inc. Sydney is a graduate of Elizabeth City University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
Alger James graduated from Southwestern High School, Baltimore, Maryland June 1980. He enlisted into the Marine Corps January 28, 1980 at the age of 17 in the delayed entry program. He attended Recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina. After an incredible 30 year career he retired November 30, 2010
Alger was 2 years away from retiring from the Marine Corps when he entered National University in San Diego. Alger received his Bachelors in Business Administration with a Minor in Human Resource Management in July 2011.
In 1982, Alger as a Lance Corporal started his volunteer journey in the Marine Corps. I volunteered with the Special Olympics in Hawaii. Alger had performed volunteer service for the rest of his Marine Corps Marine Corps career earning the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Doing volunteer service from tutoring kids, working for Toys for Tots program and church.
In March of 1983, He gave his life to Christ and was baptized while serving in the Marines in Hawaii. In the summer of 1984 while on leave he met the love of his life Yvonne Melvina Addison: they dated 3 years and were married August 22, 1987. Always seeking to know more of Christ He rededicated his life to Christ 2017 and was baptized again. He was ordained as a Deacon in August 2021.
He is the husband of one wife for 34 years and counting. They have 4 wonderful Children: 3 sons: Antwan, Alger III, Joshua and 1 daughter, Taylor. 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson Malachi.
